“Learn to trust your body.”

This is a one-day CONSCIOUS DANCE experience using PRIMAL MOVEMENT, SOUND, and DANCE to reconnect with instinct, intuition, and body wisdom.

Our body is full of cosmic information.  We are the result of billions of years of evolution producing the most extraordinary wisdom down to our cellular level.  At our disposal is the cosmic code contained in our DNA – a blueprint of archetypal patterns and information that are given expression in our individual and unique way.  This beautiful miracle of a body contains enormous transformation potential which we can access by re-connecting to our original primal nature.

Available as our birthright, we grow up forgetting, suppressing, or even actively denying the wonder of this potential of human expression.  Life becomes narrow, limited, and often concentrated in the mental world of our heads.  The body becomes the key to accessing the potential to create richness and depth in life – bypassing the mind.  When we attune ourselves at the molecular level in the deepest reaches of our biological being, we are able to release our innate healing and creative energies.

We develop and learn through movement.  We create meaning in our realities through movement.  When we stop moving, we stop learning, and we stop living.

Conscious dance brings awareness to our movement patterns while sound and music connect us to emotionality, creating an integrated whole.

SEQUENCE AND CONTENT OF THE WORKSHOP

1. MEET AND GREET

2. PRIMAL MOVEMENT = focalisation

Primal movement can re-connect us with the evolutionary and developmental aspects of our being.  This is not a path of learning but rather one of remembering.  From infancy to maturity we have traversed and engaged with movements that represent an evolutionary line that also corresponds to the three parts of our brain.

  • Reptilian Brain – connection to instinct, primal desires, expression of genetic potentials
  • Mammalian Brian – connection to the emotional motivation of behaviour, feeling, and survival
  • The New Brain – connects to mental imagination, thinking, and the ability to analyse and plan

When we bypass any of these stages or suppress these movements it can influence development and health.

In this section of the workshop, we follow this journey.  Starting on the floor we explore the origins of primal movement, moving through various stages we will bring ourselves to the point where we can connect to transcendence through whirling

This section is lightly facilitated so as to facilitate spontaneity, sensitisation, and connection to our inner landscape.  This deep and subtle perception leads to self-discovery, self-healing, and mastery.

3. WHIRLING

We end the morning off with a TRANSCENDENT PRIMAL MOVEMENT.  This sacred dance meditation is found in many cultures, however, is also rooted in our childhood.  It is both a physical barometer of where we are emotionally and mentally, as much as a meditative tool taking us into trance.

Whirling is a bridge between two worlds.  Feet connected to the earth and at the same time, we reach for the stars in movements that mirror the cosmic journeys of the planets and galaxies.  This powerful movement creates the space for us to transcend into a state of being where we can find true meaning in the deepest recesses of our being.

4. LUNCH

Bring and share lunch
    Tea and coffee provided

5. NEO SHAMANIC VIVENCIA = integration

The road to ecstasy is letting go and freeing up our wild, primal self.  It is to give free expression and relief from emotion.  It is an ancient shamanic dance of catharsis.

The neo-shamanic Vivencia connects us to our primal self, to nature, and to cosmic awareness.  A deep connection to our instincts opens up the space to integrate their expression in a healthy and integrated way.  Sexuality, transcendence, creativity, and affection when integrated become an authentic expression of self, of life, of meaning.

This Vivencia will integrate the exploration, insights, and learning of the morning’s Primal Movement sessions.  By connecting to our archaic origins and evolutionary path, we can create an expanded worldview, have a clearer understanding of self, and bare our soul for a deeper and more intense connection to life.

6. CLOSING

THE FACILITATOR

Christos Daskalakos has been working with conscious dance for 25 years.  His weekly Biodanza classes, monthly shamanic dance journeys, and experiential movement and dance workshops are designed for personal growth and spiritual development.

He began dancing the moment he could stand on his own two feet.

In 1978 his passion was first channelled into performance and teaching at ‘Moving into Dance’ founded by Sylvia Glasser.  In 2001 Christos found Biodanza and was immediately drawn to its well-researched, rich theoretical model and methodology.
- he qualified as a Biodanza facilitator in 2004
- as a Didactic Biodanza Teacher in 2009

In 2005 Christos began his international travels necessary to expand his skills in Biodanza; says Christos ‘I was privileged to train for my Didactic diploma under Rolando Toro himself’. His approach since has been of continued exploration and research and training in some powerful extensions of Biodanza including; Minotaur; Aqua Biodanza and Neo-Shamanism.

Christos is currently researching the role of dance as a pedagogic tool in higher education, and in developing metaskills in leadership training.  He observes that as much as there are cultural differences between people, there are also universal principles and practices that are common to us all – dance is fundamental - based on neuropsychology that arises out of the evolution and development of humanity.
