“Delight in your sensuality, in the dance of your desires.
Don’t be ashamed of it.”
_Marty Rubin
The secret of every joyful dance is that it contains a hidden magic that charms us back to life. The word “delight”, from the Latin “delectare” reminds us that to be delighted is to be enchanted. Dances of delight draw us into spells of wonder and lightness. When our dances are experienced as delightful there is an aliveness that softens our seriousness and creates space for joy.
To experience delight in our dance is to enter a field where the heart feels lighter, our bodies glide and soar as if free from the grips of gravity. Its almost as if any heaviness that keeps us bound is spirited away through the sheer pleasure of movement. Playful surprises unfold with each spin of the body and our face expands into a broad grin.
In this way, dance becomes a medicine for heaviness and a way to see life again through innocent eyes. We remember that enchantment is not an escape from life, but a deeper encounter with its beauty. As we surrender to the charm of the dance every fibre of our being dances weaving together a harmony with the universe that can only leave us in awe.
