dancing with DELIGHT

“Delight in your sensuality, in the dance of your desires.
Don’t be ashamed of it.”
_Marty Rubin

The secret of every joyful dance is that it contains a hidden magic that charms us back to life. The word “delight”, from the Latin “delectare” reminds us that to be delighted is to be enchanted. Dances of delight draw us into spells of wonder and lightness. When our dances are experienced as delightful there is an aliveness that softens our seriousness and creates space for joy.

To experience delight in our dance is to enter a field where the heart feels lighter, our bodies glide and soar as if free from the grips of gravity. Its almost as if any heaviness that keeps us bound is spirited away through the sheer pleasure of movement. Playful surprises unfold with each spin of the body and our face expands into a broad grin.

In this way, dance becomes a medicine for heaviness and a way to see life again through innocent eyes. We remember that enchantment is not an escape from life, but a deeper encounter with its beauty. As we surrender to the charm of the dance every fibre of our being dances weaving together a harmony with the universe that can only leave us in awe.

Primordial Dance

“Dance exists first on this primordial level, not on an intellectual place…
Its inmost substance cannot be reasoned, only experienced.”
_Sondra Horton Fraleigh

There is a primordial dance intelligence that lives in our bodies. This is an ancient knowing that uses movement and rhythm to not only regulate our physical aspects but to extend these into beautiful expressions of ourselves and the cosmos we inhabit. Across cultures and down through all ages, people have danced, not only for joy, but to access healing, transformation, and to connect with the sacred.

Our ancestors were not performers, they lived the dance. Rituals and ceremonies transcended the profane taking the dancers into the realms of myth, wonder, and awe. Often the path was through altered states of consciousness, trance, and ecstasy. These states open up portals into the unseen where dance bridges between worlds. In Biodanza we honour this ancient knowledge and create dances that invite us to remember our instinctive wisdom, reclaiming our own power to healing and well-being.

In the absence of ancient rituals of trance, we activate our deeper intelligence by surrendering to the dance. Just like the ancient dancers before us we enter to dance not just to move, but to be moved by life and the mystery that lives in each of our steps.

dance ~ Portals of Magic

“The dance is strong magic. The body can fly without wings.
It can sing without voice. The dance is strong magic. The dance is life.”
_Pearl Primus

There is a magical moment on the threshold of our dance – that liminal space between here and there – between intention and action. The impetus to dance is ancient, innate, and an integral part of our human evolution. This power resonates in each movement we make. To dance is not mechanical - it's magical.

Something shifts the moment we surrender to dance. Entrega – in Biodanza, where our whole being crosses into another way of perceiving, a quiet unfolding into a space where instinct, presence become the language of connection with ourselves and with life.

In this altered state, what once felt separate begins to reweave. Movement becomes meaning, and we are no longer dancers doing a dance, but bodies being danced by something larger — something ancestral and deeply human. Dance transforms us not by changing who we are, but by remembering what we are. In that remembrance, we reclaim the forgotten wisdom of embodiment.

dancing into EXPANDED AWARENESS

“Dance is one of the most perfect forms
of communication with infinite intelligence.”
_Paulo Coelho

The expansion of consciousness is essential for our personal and collective growth. Dance expands our awareness which not only enriches our lives but fosters empathy and improves our relationships opening a sense of unity. As we awaken to wider states of awareness, we move beyond the confines of ego, habit, and self-limitation and begin to dance into an interconnected living whole.

When we dance into a deeper connection and relationship with ourselves, we begin to see what is hidden: inherited wounds, unconscious patterns, and the stories that shape our identities. With this awareness comes the power to choose differently – just as I consciously am able to move my body through space, I consciously move through the doorways to personal freedom and collective renewal.

Expanding our awareness is not only to uncover the darkness – it is also a path of joy. As we dance into our bodies so does our sensitivity to beauty increase. To be fully present in the dance is not only physical but opens up the heart encouraging us to find beauty and love ourselves, others and the world around us. This deep love fuels an evolution and we become artists of life building a more luminous world.
