“Dance is the joy of movement and the heart of life.”
_Susan Joli
To dance is to awaken a living, dynamic, and powerful connection to our bodies. When we move, we close the gap between mind and feeling. Through our bodies we sense the weight of our steps, the expansion of our breath, and the tension in our muscles. This subtle flow of sensation is an embodied presence of emotion, and as we bring these into awareness, we learn to listen to the truth of our hearts.
From this place of self-connection, we naturally reach outward. We dissolve the edges of separation when we dance with others, whether through synchronised movements or gestures that mirror and complement each other. Moving together reminds us that we belong. It echoes the archaic origins of dance, when shared rituals and collective expression shaped our humanity and forged community.
The heart plays an essential role. Joy, laughter, and play infuse movement with delight, loosening the barriers between us and making space for a generosity of spirit. In this state, we transcend the limitations of ego and self-centred identity, finding resonance with the world around us. Opening our heart through dance means discovering that a meaningful life is not something we wait for, but something we can create with every step.
